This training course highlights and develops the teacher’s role within STEM learning. It aims to provide teachers with the theoretical and practical framework for STEM teaching and involve them in learning activities based on problem-based learning through the use of robotics.

About The Event

This course gives teachers the opportunity to experience hands-on STEM activities to enhance their teaching. Through this course, you will develop skills to enhance your students':

  • digital competences 
  • employability skills 
  • team work 
  • critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

This course is designed for STEM teachers, who wish to enhance their problem solving skills. Robotics can be incorporated into any STEM subjects and even into music and art lessons!

Day 1: 

- Welcome by Principal 

- Curriculum outline 

- Team Working activities 

Introduction - Introduction on how to teach Robotics and STEM in Education: Investigate teaching strategies and develop an understanding of what STEM is all about. Look at practical ways on how to integrate STEM teaching into the current UK and Republic Of Ireland curriculum. Ground breaking innovative approaches to STEM education teaching will also be discussed.

Day 2: 

- Intro to Robotics 

- Intro to Python Programming

- Intro to Makeblock  

- Intro to Cody Rocky and Artificial Intelligence (AI) 

- Developing courses for robotic activity 

- Practical sessions in using robotic equipment

Day 3: 

- Intro to Neuron Blocks

- Intro to Aurdino

- Python Programming 

- Intro to M Bot 

- Developing courses for  M Bot 

- Practical sessions in using M Bot robotic equipment

Day 4:

- Summary of  activities 

- Course Evaluation and Feedback 

- Graduation 

-  Participation diploma awarded.

Day 5

- You have the opportunity to choose from workshops or cultural visits. If you choose workshops, these would be delivered on Day 4 and the certification would take place on Day 5.

Please note that a cultural visit is not included in the price, it will be extra depending on your chosen destination.

Certification

At the end of the course, each participant will be awarded with a certificate of attendance and if requested with a Europass Mobility Certificate. If your school/educational organisation requires additional documents to certify your presence/competencies learnt/learning outcomes, please let us know and we will provide you with the required documents/pictures/videos.

Training Content

Our training is completely bespoke, therefore the above schedule can be tailored to your school's/organisation's needs to ensure that this professional training will be the best fit model for your school. If you wish, we can incorporate cultural visits on Day 5, destinations could include Glenveagh National Park, Doagh Famine Village and Maline Head or Slieve League. We can also arrange your accommodation if it is required. The price of the cultural visit will be dependant on your chosen destination and the number of participants. Erasmus+ Funds

All school teachers, trainers, headmasters and non-teaching staff of educational organisations are eligible to receive Erasmus+ grant to cover all costs relating to this Teacher Training under Key Action 1. To receive the Erasmus plus KA1 funding, the sending institution needs to submit the KA1 application. Please remember that there is only one deadline per year, so be sure not to miss it! For further information regarding KA1 application, please refer to the Erasmus guide.

What you need to bring along

Laptops and robots are provided, however, if you wish to bring your own laptop or iPad, please feel free to do so. In this case, please download the 'mBlock 5' app and register an account. It is recommended to register an account with the 'mBlock 5' app in advance even if you don't bring your own laptop/iPad.

The training days run from 9 am to 4pm with an hour lunch break. Lunch is included.

Booking, Payment, and Deposit

Our training requires full payment at the time of booking to guarantee your spot. This ticket is non-refundable; however if we are able to fill your spot before the workshop we will refund 50%. Refunds made more than 30 days after payment are subject to a 3% processing fee. Up to 30 days before a workshop you can reschedule and apply your ticket fee to a future workshop. Your entire ticket fee becomes non-refundable and non-transferable 30 days before the workshop. Refunds will not be provided for arranged accommodation and other third party services.

If AISR cancels a workshop for any reason, your entire fee will be transferred to another workshop or refunded to you at your discretion. For further information, please refer to our Cancellation Policy.

We strongly recommend purchasing travel insurance to cover your costs in case of cancellation or withdrawal.

The training can also be delivered online due to COVID-19 travel ristrictions.
