Which Career?

Don't know what you want to do?

Not to worry at all, there is nothing wrong with that. Most people have a hard time deciding on what they want to do. Every person needs a sense of direction and remember that you don't have to stick with your career choice for the rest of your life.

So how do you start considering your different career options?

Think about what it is that you are good at, what you enjoy doing and what is important for you. Some employers use strength-based interviews, where they focus on what you enjoy doing, rather than what you can do like in a competency-based interview. Strength-based interviewing has its foundations in positive psychology to identify your strengths and match them to the role you will be happier in your work, perform better, learn quicker and stay with the company for longer. Jot down your strength and make a list of activities you enjoy doing and and use these to help you understand what would suit you.

Prospect Career Planner is a great tool to help you find out which jobs might be a good match to your strength.

Have an active approach

Explore your career options by researching employers, different jobs and talk to friends and family. Look for opportunities to get involved through work experience. Practical experience is the best way to decide what it is that you enjoy doing and it is also a great way to gain more insight on other jobs at the company.
