The Access to Higher Education Diploma (Science) is a Level 3 qualification which prepares people without traditional qualifications for study at university. This Diploma is regulated by the Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education and approved by OCN London of which the Academy is an approved centre.
It is designed for:

adults with a current or previous role or interest in a science related area;

adults who, because of social, educational or individual circumstances, were unable to participate in or benefit from initial education;

adults from groups under-represented in higher education;
-
adults seeking a change of direction because of unemployment or lack of career opportunities in their previous field and who have a demonstrable interest in entering a science related profession
Progression Opportunities
This Level 3 qualification may enable learners to progress to Higher Education study in areas related to Science. These may include some of the following areas of Degree level study: Nursing, Physiotherapy, Podiatry, Nutrition, Dietetics, Biology, Chemistry, Radiography, Biomedical Sciences, Ecology and a range of related degrees.
Course Delivery
Lessons are delivered online via webinars - you can always replay the recording in case you miss a lesson.
To gain this qualification, you are required to carry out 10 hours of laboratory practicals at our local University partner in Derry-Londonderry. These practicals will be delivered over 3 days, 1.5 days in Semester 1 and 1.5 days in Semester 2. The quarter of the course will be delivered traditional face to face.
